Various Activities

Our camp program offers the following:

      • Mentoring Activities
        • Well-rounded counselors mentor campers and have a vested interest in positively affecting camper's lives.
        • Mentoring relationships assist campers in recognizing and living up to their full potential.
        • Relationships are built on mutual trust and respect.
        • Campers become self-aware as they began to take responsibility for their actions, leaving nothing up to happenstance.
      • Leadership Skill Building
        • Instruction in leadership skills that enables campers to influence positive change within their community. Activities include:
          • Identifying strengths and weaknesses,
          •  Setting education and career goals,
          • Building self-esteem and confidence,
          • Establishing positive networks, and
          • Role model development.
      •  Athletic Activities (Land Sports & Games). These activities are designed to enable campers to gain an appreciation for fun outdoor and indoor activities which promote healthy living and increase personal discipline.
        • Team Sports: baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, paintball, soccer, softball, volleyball, human foosball, golfing, bike riding, and kickball.
        • Individual Sports: archery, badminton, horseback riding, horseshoe, in-line skating, pony rides, tables tennis, and tennis.
        • Fitness: aerobics, core training, strength training, running/cardio, cycling, and triathlon biking.
      • Outdoor Recreation Activities 
        • Outdoor Living Skills: overnight camping, fire building, knot tying, outdoor cooking, shelter building, and tent pitching.
        • Physical Skills: backpacking, climbing, canoe tripping, cross-country skiing, hiking, mountaineering, and mastering ropes course.
        • Nature-oriented Activities: animal love or care, astronomy, bird-watching butterfly catching and releasing, conservation activities, gardening, marine life study, nature hikes, rock collecting and painting, weather predicting.
        • Vehicular Activities: Biking, and go carting.
          • A safety operator is used for camper safety.
      • Aquatic Activities. The pool is located outdoors. The shallow pool is 2-4 feet deep and is used for fun play and swimming instruction for new swimmers.  The deeper end is 6 feet and is used for advanced, swimming instruction.  Fun games are played including Marco Polo, volleyball, speed racing, and many more.  A certified lifeguard is always on duty when campers are swimming
      • Swimming Activities: competitive, instructional, recreational, and synchronized.
      • Team Building Skills:
        • Campers receive instruction to encourage trust of themselves and others through easy-to-implement creative, cooperative and communication activities.
        • Activities are designed to keep campers laughing, having fun and interacting with other campers.
        • Confidence Building 
        • Campers are provided positive support systems that assist in developing a sense of self worth. 
        • Camp Joharie provides a safe, encouraging and non-judgmental environment to assist youth in developing the confidence needed to resist peer-pressure and to building healthy relationships.
        • Frequent positive reinforcement is provided which allows youth to accomplish new things, try things that are more challenging, and believe in themselves.
      • Arts Activities 
        • Performing Arts: dance, drama, music
        • Arts & Craft: Ceramic, Jewelry, Leatherwork, Metal Craft, Nature Crafts, Painting, Photography, Weaving, Woodwork
